Welcome to www.gregrenner.com. For the most part this site is for my own personal use. Every now and then I actually have content I want to show others. Not often. I mostly use this for storage of my web designs, web sites, photography, animation, 2D and 3D work, layout and typography examples, projects I'm working on, digital media stuff, video projects, photo galleries, etc. I'm always starting new projects and learning new things in the worlds of CSS, PHP, Javascript, etc.
News (2007.10.17) - I have plans of making a portfolio website / blog. Not sure if it'll be housed here. That's enough thinking for now.
I built this website for my girlfriend April. She loves to cook and has a huge collection of recipes, so I thought making an online recipe site would be a great way for her to keep track of them all and share them with everyone. It's a work in progress; I'll be adding more features. I wanted to get it up and going so she could start adding recipes. The design is an adaptation of an Eric Porter design. Check out his website at www.StreamingINK.com.
A few features worth mentioning. I've set up the database in a way which will eventually allow people to search for recipes based on keywords in the title, ingredients, methods of preparation, ethnicity, flavors, etc. This search feature is coming soon. Something I've already set up is a very nice looking print style sheet. So when you find a recipe that you like, it will printed in an orderly layout on one piece of paper.
News (2007.10.17) - I've made a new design for this site. I like it much better. I'm in the process of reskining the whole site, backend included. Check out the new design.
This site was a collaboration between myself and Eric Porter of StreamingINK. The design is compliments of Justin Whedon of Ebon. I created a custom back-end content management system which allows the owners of venue to update the upcoming shows, events, bands, menus, and more. Check it out.
Link Vault is basically the first website I've come up with that will be of any real use to anyone. Its basically a place that you can go and store links to webpages, email address, etc. Since its online, you can access your 'Favorites' from any computer with an internet connection. This only useful for people that use multiple computers at home or work. You log in to see your links which are categorized however you'd like, you add, edit, delete them as you see fit. A basic concept, but one that would come in very handy for me a lot of the time. This one may take a bit to get going since the whole site is dynamically driven by a database. I've got most of it working, just need to tweak it for user-friendliness.
News (2007.04.23) - the beta is up and running.
News (2007.05.12) - looking for beta users Sign Up today!.
News (2007.10.17) - beta testing was very informative. I've got a huge list of tweaks, new features and all out overhauls for parts of this site. A few major upgrades include a Firefox plugin using XUL which streamlines the adding of new links, an AJAX heavy interface, RSS feeds and a completely brand new design with a few different skins. Check back for more news.
This is simply a photogallery of our September 2005 camping trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. Nuff said. As you can tell, I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this. Although I dig the flash gallery.
Here is the latest version of our gardening website. Its new and improved over the crusty excrement I created last year. This one is prettier, functions better, more automated, and just better damnit! This one is public right now, so poke around and let me know what you think. Granted, there are no photos yet since we haven't transplanted our seedlings outside yet. But soon enough, it'll have content. Drop us a line using the contact form. Let me know what you think.
News (2007.10.17) - We're a couple of slackers and didn't take any pictures or anything. Maybe next year. Disabling this site for now.
